Book Reviews

Every girl matters and when we help girls we help humanity . . . and animals

Book Review: The Moment of Lift by Melinda Gates

This spring one of my heroes published her first book.

As soon as I heard the book was coming out, I got on the waiting list to read it at my local library. I picked the book up the day I got the notification and devoured it.

It was that good.

The book was The Moment of Lift – How Empowering Women Changes the World by Melinda Gates. Melinda Gates and the Gates Foundation have been doing amazing work for years helping women in the US and all over the world.

This book is a powerful, insightful, humble and vulnerable summary of that work. I learned a lot about the reality of life for other women around the world (and in my own country). Melinda Gates clearly supports her contention that empowering women can change the world with solid data and heart wrenching (and heart-warming) stories of real women.

So, why is an animal communicator offering a review of a book about women’s rights around the world?

Because I think that in order to save the animals on this planet, we have to save humanity.

And to save humanity, we have to take better care of our girls and women. It’s that simple.

And Melinda Gates clearly illustrates that all of humanity can’t be saved until we focus on the half of humanity that has been marginalized and oppressed.

Get ready to be inspired!

Now, It’s Your Turn

Do you think we can save humanity by supporting girls and women? Will animals benefit when we do? Please share your thoughts in the comments!

Thank you for this!! I’m a bookaholic too!! I’ll be getting this book today.

I so appreciate how much you care for all of us, especially the animals.

I’ve been watching videos of Greta Thunberg and the other young women fighting for our planet. I think she’s a prime example of Melinda Gate’s message. It’s interesting that it’s all young girls/women spearheading the strikes and marches in European major cities. It’s for the love of our planet, Mother Earth.

    Thank you, again,
    Margaret

Yes, I am a Greta fan, too! I think it’s awesome that young women and girls are leading the charge for a better world for all of us.

Thank you so much for presenting this book Dr. Cara. I have long felt the Yin is rising as the Yang energy slowly depletes itself in our bruised and battered world. The Dalai Lama recently stated that ‘women WILL rule the world’. And now… this book by Melinda Gates. I have not as yet read it, but it’s the next on my list. I, too, feel Greta Thunberg is a tower of power representing all that is good, intelligent and honourable. Bless us all as we move through these challenging times – our voices one with the animals.

Thank you again for your leadership and for introducing us to the inspiring people who bring to light in our world.
